A music diary

Note: Heartstorm is going dark. Read about what’s going on here.

Heartstorm is a user-driven quest on thesixtyone.com. Basically, the purpose is to spotlight old, underbumped songs. It started out of the group Max Bumps, but you don’t have to be a member to join in on the quest.

Here’s the schedule for the next month or so. As always, if you’ve signed up but don’t see your name on this list, let me know:

Wed, Nov 25: nutmeg251
Thurs, Nov 26: leawalters
Fri, Nov 27: amyt02
Sat, Nov 28: clover

How do I participate? Go to those users’ pages on their appointed day and, if you like the songs, heart them. It’s that easy!

How do I sign up to feature songs? Post on my wall.

For people spotlighting songs: On your day, feature 1-3 old, low-bumped songs on your wall, and we’ll heart them. If you can’t be online your assigned day, put up your songs in advance and we’ll take care of you. Hopefully we can get some good songs posted!

Important! When it’s your day to storm, make sure you adjust your settings (hover over the arrow next to your screen name for the panel to show up) so “block messages from strangers” is unchecked, otherwise some people can’t post on your wall. (People in your group and those you’ve subscribed to can always get in, but unless you change your settings, everyone else will be locked out.)

Also, make sure you have “notify me when someone makes a wall post” unchecked, otherwise you will get a flood of e-mails on your Heartstorm day.

Good luck everyone!

  5. Lovely idea, and I have a few questions:

I noticed that most people who participate heart all the songs featured – what if I don’t like certain featured songs? Can we heart only the songs we enjoy?

Also, what do you consider as “old” and “underbumped” songs?

I’ve seen people post songs that have a wide range of hearts (below 100 to over 1000), and songs as “new” as a month old. So I’m just curious as too how flexible these definitions are 🙂

    Thank you!

  6. Thanks for commenting!

You don’t have to heart songs you don’t enjoy. Some people seem to heart everything because they like the spirit of Heartstorm, but at the end of the day, it’s your hearts, and it’s up to you.

About eligibility: any unposted song is eligible, and a song that’s a month old is fine–if it’s already slipped off most people’s radar, it’s a candidate. I dunno about 1,000 hearts, though–that seems a little excessive. In that case someone probably just forgot to put up their Heartstorm picks; if it happens again, just post a comment and remind them to put something else up.

  7. Glad I stumbled upon this on a friends page. It is an excellent idea. Henceforth participating in the heartstorm. I’ll commit the day to all undiscovered songs the user has featured, saved, and tagged. &Heart the ones I dig.(:
